FAQs

  • We’ll schedule a 20 block of time where we can get to know one another a bit. Many clients prefer to do this over the phone, however we can also schedule time for you to come into the office for the consultation. The consult often looks like you sharing a little about what is bringing you to therapy at this time, as well as hearing about our approach to the work. Feel free to bring any questions you have. The goal is to determine whether we might be a good fit, and if you’d like to set up a therapy intake to get started!

  • Yes! One of the things we learned as a result of COVID is that virtual therapy is often equally as effective as in-person work. Treatments such as EMDR and Somatic Experiencing are also possible via Telehealth, and therapists at Live Full are skilled in implementing these interventions through the virtual platform. As we’ve begun transitioning back to in-person sessions, many clients have continued to choose virtual sessions for other reasons, including convenience. Feel free to join us exclusively through Telehealth, or just on those weeks where getting to the office is challenging! We’re here for whatever works best for you. Telehealth is offered through a confidential, HIPAA-compliant platform. You’ll receive a link the day of your appointment to join your session. Your therapist will provide additional tips after booking to help enhance your virtual therapy experience.

  • First, we are thrilled we get to meet you! Right after scheduling, you’ll receive an email from Simple Practice (generated by your therapist), with instructions for logging into your personal and secure client portal. There you’ll find a handful of documents to review and complete electronically prior to your intake session. No paper forms to print/keep track of! This helps us learn more about you and prepare for our first meeting together. You’ll also receive a personal email from your therapist with instructions to the office or info about your upcoming Telehealth session.

  • Our priority in the first session is to get to know you and begin creating a positive therapeutic relationship. We recognize that meeting with a stranger for therapy can be incredibly difficult and often anxiety producing! We want to hear about your goals and what is bringing you to therapy. Your therapist will be mindful to go at your pace, which might mean that we don’t discuss specific events or details of your history quite yet. There is never any pressure to share anything and this is a very common misconception – clients often come in thinking they “should” share all the details up front. Our approach is rooted in brain and nervous system science. We are intentional in building a relationship, as well as resources and skills, so that when you decide to share difficult things, it can be done in such a way that you feel ready, safe and supported.

  • Sessions are often scheduled weekly to start, for 50 minutes. We recommend this frequency initially because we find that almost all of our clients want to work on something immediate and desire to feel better. Weekly sessions help you begin to feel comfortable and create safety with your therapist, as well as gain momentum in the process. Should this not be doable for you, we work with clients to find a schedule that works best for them, while also helping them meet their goals. Longer sessions are also available, as some clients find these helpful to allow for more work to occur, which can ‘speed up’ the healing process.

A therapy session is a space and time solely dedicated to your healing and growth. We’ll focus on what is most important to you, and your therapist will offer interventions tailored to what you need. We’ll provide compassionate support and structure to the process, while allowing you to safely explore and process what is most important to you. Many clients gain new insights and awareness within the first couple of sessions, and report quickly noticing meaningful change.

  • When you book a session with your therapist, that time is held specifically for you. We understand that things happen, and there might be a week where you realize you can’t attend your scheduled appointment. We ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice if you know you will be unable to attend your session. You will not be charged for cancelling within this time frame. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at the full session rate. Feel free to chat with your therapist about any questions related to this policy.

  • We are located in the heart of East Nashville, at 2002 Eastland Avenue, Suite 101. There is a small parking lot in the back with a couple of spaces that are first come, first serve. We also encourage clients to park on Scott, which is between Portland Brew and a bright pink house. You’ll take the crosswalk on Eastland and then you are at the ramp to our office!

We thoughtfully designed our space to be comfortable and inviting. Feel free to grab a coffee, soda or seltzer before your session begins.
